HUMASFKIPINFO — Pekanbaru, April 20, 2026 — The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Riau, officially opened the 34th National Literary Practicum, held at the M. Diah Building, FKIP Universitas Riau. The event carries the theme “Literature as the Voice of the Times: Thirty-Four Expressions and Creations Embedded in Cultural Harmony as the Rhythm of Civilization,” reflecting the role of literature in the dynamics of modern life.
The opening ceremony was enlivened by a series of cultural and artistic performances, including traditional procession, silat performance, Sekapur Sirih welcoming dance, as well as various creative showcases such as theater, rap, choir, and flashmob performed by students.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector III of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Hermandra, M.A., expressed appreciation for the students’ consistency in organizing literature- and culture-based activities. He emphasized that literature plays a strategic role in shaping a generation that is critical, creative, and responsive to the changes of the times.
“Through activities like this, students not only learn theories, but also express ideas, cultural values, and national identity through works that are alive and relevant,” he stated.
The 34th Literary Practicum serves as a platform for developing talents, creativity, and appreciation for literature and culture, while also strengthening the role of students as agents of change in preserving and advancing cultural values.
The event runs until April 24, 2026, featuring a series of activities and competitions involving participants from various regions across Indonesia.
