HUMASFKIPINFO – Pekanbaru, January 26, 2026 — The Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Riau officially organized the 22nd Chemistry Olympiad. The event was officially opened by the Dean of FKIP Universitas Riau as a manifestation of the faculty’s commitment to encouraging the improvement of academic quality, creativity, and competitiveness of the academic community in the field of chemistry.

The 22nd Chemistry Olympiad was held at the FKIP Universitas Riau campus in Pekanbaru, aiming to foster enthusiasm for learning, promote healthy competition, and develop the capacities of students and educators—particularly teachers and alumni of the Chemistry Education Program—to continuously enhance their competencies in a sustainable manner.

In his remarks, the Dean of FKIP Universitas Riau emphasized that the Olympiad is not solely oriented toward strengthening pedagogical competence, but also toward deepening chemical knowledge integrated with various other disciplines, such as environmental science, information technology, and the arts. According to him, the current challenges of education and the world of work require chemistry professionals to think across disciplines and adapt to the rapid development of the times.

Furthermore, it was stated that the 22nd Chemistry Olympiad serves as tangible evidence that chemistry students are not limited to formulas and reactions, but are also capable of expressing science in various forms, including artistic creativity and technology-based innovation. This is in line with the vision of FKIP Universitas Riau to produce educators and graduates who are excellent, possess strong character, and remain relevant to future needs.

Through this activity, it is expected that an academic ecosystem will be established that encourages collaboration among students, lecturers, teachers, and alumni, while simultaneously strengthening the role of the Chemistry Education Program of FKIP Universitas Riau as a center for the development of science that is humanistic, contextual, and multidisciplinary.
