HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Desa Sejangat, August 30, 2025 — The Biology Education Student Association of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (HIMAPROBIO FKIP UNRI), once again initiated the 34th Green Week, carrying the theme “Optimizing Mangrove Reforestation in Sejangat Village through Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration.” The event took place in Sejangat Village, Bukit Batu Subdistrict, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.

The program was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including the Expert Staff of the Regent of Bengkalis, the Head of Bukit Batu Subdistrict, representatives from the local Military Command (Koramil), Police Sector (Polsek), the Head of Sejangat Village, representatives from Angkasa Pura and Pegadaian, the Principal of SMAN 1 Bukit Batu, as well as youth organizations (Karang Taruna) of Bukit Batu Village. Their presence reflected the importance of cross-sector cooperation and support in sustaining reforestation movements.

The event was officially opened by the Expert Staff of the Regent of Bengkalis for Government Affairs, Mr. Ed Efendi, S.H., M.H. In his remarks, he stressed the importance of preserving the environment amid the growing threat of climate crisis. “Mangroves not only serve as protectors of coastal ecosystems but also as a key solution for climate change mitigation. Therefore, collaboration from all parties is essential,” he affirmed.

As part of Green Week, students, together with the community and stakeholders, planted mangrove seedlings and conducted environmental education activities. These efforts are expected to strengthen collective awareness and responsibility in ensuring the sustainability of coastal ecosystems, particularly in Sejangat Village.

FKIP Universitas Riau remains committed to supporting student initiatives focused on community service, environmental conservation, and raising youth awareness of climate crisis issues and ecological sustainability.
