HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Bengkalis, August 30, 2025 — The Biology Education Student Association (HIMAPRODI) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (FKIP UNRI), organized an Environmental Seminar at SMAN 1 Bukit Batu, Bengkalis Regency. The seminar carried the theme “Collaboration between Young Generations and Communities in Mangrove Conservation Action,” aiming to raise participants’ understanding of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as protectors of coastal environments. The event was attended by students, teachers, and representatives from local communities, creating a constructive space for dialogue on the active role of various societal elements in environmental preservation.

The seminar featured speakers from both academia and practitioners, namely lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program at FKIP UNRI and representatives from the Bengkalis Regency Environmental Agency. Their combined perspectives provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of mangrove conservation issues, covering both scientific viewpoints and policy implementation in the field. This approach offered participants broader and more applicable insights into the importance of collaboration in safeguarding coastal ecosystems.

The event was held in conjunction with the 34th Green Week in Bukit Batu Subdistrict, further reinforcing the shared spirit of environmental preservation. The active participation of Bengkalis community members together with students of the Biology Education Study Program illustrated the strong synergy between academia, local government, communities, and youth in fostering ecological awareness.

Overall, the seminar ran smoothly and received positive responses from all participants. The interactive engagement throughout the event reflected the spirit of collaboration promoted by its theme. It is hoped that the outcomes of this seminar will be followed up with various programs and concrete actions to support the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems in Bengkalis Regency, as well as serve as inspiration for similar initiatives in the future.
