HUMASFKIPINFO – Pekanbaru, July 22, 2026 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Riau organized a Workshop on Educational Research Methodology under the theme, “Strategies for Addressing Emerging Trends, Research Designs, and Methodologies in Educational Research.” The workshop served as an academic platform for lecturers to strengthen their research competencies while updating their knowledge of the rapidly evolving landscape of educational research methodologies.
The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Mohamad Syarif Sumantri, S.S., M.Pd., Professor at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, he explored a range of strategic topics, including current trends and issues in educational research, identifying research gaps and novelty, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research designs, research and development (R&D), experimental research, and action research. Each session was highly interactive, with discussions and question-and-answer sessions that enabled participants to deepen their understanding and exchange insights and experiences.
The strong enthusiasm of the academic community was reflected in the participation of 152 lecturers in the workshop. Their attendance demonstrated a shared commitment to enhancing research capacity as an integral part of fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
Through this workshop, FKIP Universitas Riau reaffirmed its commitment to supporting lecturers in designing and conducting educational research that is relevant, innovative, and methodologically rigorous. It is expected that the research produced will not only contribute to the advancement of knowledge but also create a meaningful impact on improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
