HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University Riau (UNRI) held a Workshop on Developing Semester Learning Plans (RPS) Based on Case Based Learning (CBL) on Monday, (18/11/2024). The activity was attended by the Dean of FKIP, Prof. Dr. Jimmi Copriady, M.Si, who was represented on this occasion by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Roza Linda, M.Sc., Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Mahmud Alpusari, M.Pd, along with all lecturers at FKIP UNRI. This event was held online via the platform Zoom by presenting a resource person, Prof. Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd., M.Si., from Sebelas Maret University (UNS).
Case Based Learning, or case-based learning, is an important indicator of achievement Key Performance Indicators (IKU) 7th set by the government. This method aims to not only improve students' mastery of content but also their ability to collaborate, communicate and conduct research. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Sarwanto explained that the success of implementing this method depends on the lecturer's readiness in designing relevant learning materials and supporting cases.
The main stages in implementing CBL include the preparation of carefully structured learning materials, providing relevant cases to students, and discussions which end with the preparation of reports by students. This approach allows students to develop better analytical abilities and communication skills through the process of discussion and problem solving.
This event received a positive response from the participants, the majority of whom consisted of FKIP UNRI lecturers. In the question and answer session, various questions related to the technical implementation of this method were discussed in depth, thereby providing further clarity regarding the implementation of CBL in the FKIP UNRI environment.
Through this activity, it is hoped that lecturers can integrate case-based learning methods into their RPS, so that they can have a positive impact on the quality of learning and FKIP UNRI graduates. The event ended with a new spirit to increase innovation in the learning process in the higher education environment.
