HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP UNRI) in collaboration with the Japanese Studies Association in Indonesia (ASJI) held Public Lecture on Wednesday, October 16 2024. This event carries the theme "Prospects for Cooperation between Japan and Indonesia in Sustaining Cultural Values, Traditions, Language, and Environment." Activities are carried out randomly hybrid, took place in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of FKIP UNRI and was also attended via the Zoom Meeting platform.

The activity began with remarks by the Chairman of ASJI, Julian Aldrin Pasha, M.A., Ph.D., "I convey my thanks and appreciation to the Dean of FKIP, Universitas Riau who has facilitated this event. It is very important for us to maintain cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, especially in the fields of culture, language and the environment. Future challenges, such as the rapid development of technology and information, have major impacts that cannot be avoided. This affects cultural values, both quickly and slowly.”

Takahashi Yuichi, General Director of Japan Foundation Jakarta, gave his opening remarks, "First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to FKIP Universitas Riau for the extraordinary support and facilities in organizing this event. My thanks also go to ASJI who has been a very important partner in this initiative. "Don't forget, appreciation to the resource persons who, with their expertise and dedication, have been willing to take the time to share valuable insights and experiences." 

The event was then officially opened by the Dean of FKIP, Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Jimmi Copriady, M.Si., "The leadership and academic community of FKIP UNRI would like to express their sincere thanks to all parties who have contributed to the success Public Lecture This includes both the committee, resource persons and participants who have participated enthusiastically. The success of this event cannot be separated from the hard work and dedication of all parties. "More than just learning the language, this program is also committed to introducing rich Japanese culture, so that students not only have linguistic skills, but are also able to understand global cultural values ​​that are increasingly relevant in this interconnected world."

Another speaker who also delivered material was Dr. Soni Mulyawan Setiana, M.Pd., Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Indonesian Computer University; Meizar Abdullah, M.A., Lecturer in Japanese Language and Literature, National University; and Dr. Arza Aibonotika, M.Si., Lecturer in the Japanese Language Study Program, FKIP, Universitas Riau.

This event discussed various prospects for cooperation between Japan and Indonesia in an effort to maintain cultural values, traditions, language and the environment, which are relevant to current developments and the challenges of globalization.

It is hoped that this public lecture will be able to strengthen relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of education, culture and the environment, by making this activity a forum for the exchange of inspiring ideas.
