HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (FKIP) successfully held International English Language Testing System (IELTS) training for lecturers for two days, from 5 to 6 December 2024, at The Zuri Hotel Pekanbaru. This training aims to improve lecturers' English language competence, especially in mastering IELTS, in order to support international standard teaching and research.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of FKIP, Universitas Riau, represented by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Roza Linda, M.Si. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of English language skills as one of the keys to strengthening the competitiveness of lecturers in the era of globalization of education.
This activity presents two resource persons who are experts in their fields. Prof. Dr. Afrianto, M.Ed, FKIP Lecturer and Head of the Language UPT at Universitas Riau, together with Muryanti, S.Pd., M.Sc, guided participants in understanding the IELTS structure and assessment system. The two speakers also provided in-depth explanations and intensive training regarding the four main components of IELTS, namely Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Training activities do not only stop at providing material, but are also equipped with practical sessions, evaluations and feedback from resource persons. Through this process, participants get a clear picture of their abilities, as well as valuable input to improve their skills for future IELTS tests.
This training is a strategic step for FKIP Riau University in supporting the institution's vision to become a center for superior and globally competitive higher education. With better mastery of IELTS, lecturers are expected to be able to expand their contributions to research and international publications.
