Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Riau held training on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students of the Professional Teacher Education Program (PPG) Batch 2 Semester 1 of 2024 on Saturday, November 16 2024. This training took place in the M. Diah Building , FKIP Universitas Riau, with the aim of improving students' skills in utilizing AI technology as a learning and research tool.
This activity was officially opened by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation and Alumni, Ria Novianti, S.Psi., M.Pd, who represented the Dean of FKIP. In her speech, she expressed her hope that this training would become an important momentum for PPG students to integrate AI technology to support their duties and responsibilities as prospective professional educators.
Also present was the PPG Program Coordinator, Dr. Elfis Suanto, M.Si, together with PPG Secretary, Otang Kurniaman, M.Pd. They emphasized the importance of technological competence in education to answer challenges in the digital era.
This training presents two resource persons who are experts in their fields. Prof. Dr. Afrianto Daud, M.Ed, started the session with material entitled "Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Virtual Learning Assistant". He discussed how AI technology can be used to support the teaching process, such as helping to prepare teaching materials that are interactive and responsive to student needs.
The next session was delivered by Eddy Noviana, M.Pd, who presented material on the theme "Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Preparing Classroom Action Research". He provides practical guidance to students on how AI can be used to analyze data, develop research frameworks, and increase the efficiency of preparing research reports.
The training took place from 07.00 to 15.30 WIB and was attended enthusiastically by the participants. They gain new insights and skills that are relevant to support their professional development as prospective teachers in the technological era.
