HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Pekanbaru, September 26, 2025 — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (FKIP UNRI), successfully organized a Workshop on Deep Learning on Friday, September 26, 2025. The event was held in a hybrid format from 08.00 to 12.00 WIB, taking place at the FKIP Senate Room and broadcast virtually via Zoom and YouTube. The workshop attracted high enthusiasm from both lecturers and students.
The event began with remarks from the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Fakhruddin, S.Si., MT., who highlighted the importance of understanding and aligning perceptions regarding the implementation of deep learning in schools. He emphasized that grasping the key concepts of deep learning is essential, as this approach is expected to help students adapt to and contribute to future technological developments.
The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Roza Linda, M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FKIP UNRI, representing the Dean, Prof. Dr. Jimmi Copriady, M.Si. In her opening address, she stated that this program is part of FKIP’s efforts to synergize across various sectors to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in Riau Province.
The first session featured keynote speaker Prof. Yuli Rahmawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., an academic and researcher specializing in educational transformation. She explained the foundations of deep learning, which are mindful, meaningful, and joyful. Prof. Yuli also emphasized that deep learning is a holistic educational approach that honors the processes of intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
In the second session, additional insights were delivered by three speakers from FKIP UNRI: Dr. Kartini, M.Si., Dr. Asyul Fikri, M.Pd., and Mifta Riska, M.Pd. Their presentations further strengthened participants’ understanding of the practical implementation of deep learning. The session continued with a dynamic discussion exploring the challenges and opportunities of applying deep learning in school contexts amid the current era of educational transformation.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A and reflection session, marking an important milestone in the ongoing effort to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. It also underscored FKIP Universitas Riau’s commitment to preparing future educators who are adaptive, innovative, and ready to contribute to the nation.
