HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO – Hangtuah Village, September 13, 2025 — The series of community service programs conducted by the PPK Ormawa UKM Universitas Riau Cendekia team in Hangtuah Village culminated in an educational initiative focused on nutrition awareness. On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the team organized the “Gemar Makan Ikan Lele” (Gemarile) campaign at TK/PAUD An-Nur, Hangtuah Village. The program was designed to increase public awareness about the importance of consuming fish—particularly catfish, which is the village’s main local commodity.

In previous stages of the program, the PPK Ormawa UKM URC team conducted a cooking demonstration featuring various modern and child-friendly catfish dishes such as catfish nuggets, catfish meatballs, and shredded catfish (abon lele). These innovative creations were later used as part of the educational campaign, combining catfish-based products with bread to create appealing and nutritious snacks for children.

Team member Alifa Zahro shared the philosophy behind the initiative:
“We want to change the perception that catfish can only be fried or grilled. By showing creative and practical ways to prepare it, we hope to inspire mothers to explore more diverse fish-based menus for their families—and encourage children, especially toddlers, to enjoy catfish as a vital source of animal protein for brain development.”

Field Supervisor (DPL), Putri Adita Wulandari, M.Pd., expressed her appreciation for the team’s work, noting that the Gemarile campaign reflects the students’ maturity in designing impactful empowerment programs. Through this initiative, Universitas Riau—via the PPK Ormawa UKM URC team—reaffirms its commitment to developing a generation of students who are not only academically excellent but also socially conscious and capable of making meaningful contributions to the nation, starting from the grassroots community level.
