HUMASFKIPINFO – Pekanbaru, October 23, 2025 — The Guidance and Counseling (BK) Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Riau, conducted a Community Service Program titled Art Therapy Workshop for elementary and junior high school teachers in Kampar Kiri Hulu. Held over two days, on October 22–23, 2025, at SMP Negeri 1 Kampar Kiri Hulu, the activity aimed to enhance teachers’ competence in providing creative, responsive, and effective counseling services.
This workshop received full support from FKIP Universitas Riau as an appreciation for the BK Study Program’s achievement as the Best Study Program at FKIP UNRI in 2025. The activity gathered teachers from various schools in Kampar Kiri Hulu and featured BK lecturers from Universitas Riau who specialize in creative counseling.
The Coordinator of the BK Study Program, Dr. Non Syafriadi, M.Pd., highlighted in his remarks that art therapy is a strategic approach that helps students manage their emotions and improve their psychological well-being. Participants received both theoretical materials and hands-on practice on techniques such as expressive drawing, collage, and color-based activities.
At the end of the program, the committee presented awards to the most active and creative participants. Through this initiative, the BK Study Program of FKIP UNRI reinforces its commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—particularly community service—while supporting improvements in education quality and mental health in rural areas.
