Pekanbaru, October 9, 2025 — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (FKIP UNRI), successfully held a Visiting Scholar Workshop (Fulbright, Slovakia Grant, DAAD, & JSPS) in a hybrid format at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of FKIP UNRI and via online platforms. The event served as an inspiring forum for lecturers, students, and researchers to expand their academic networks and establish international research collaborations.

The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Roza Linda, M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FKIP UNRI, who emphasized the importance of academic courage in pursuing international opportunities.
“Through programs like this, we hope more lecturers and students will develop the confidence and capability to compete globally and actively participate in international academic programs,” she stated.

The event featured two main speakers: Dr. Rasiah, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Universitas Halu Oleo) and Zetra Hainul Putra, Ph.D. (Universitas Riau).

In his presentation, Dr. Rasiah shared strategies for preparing proposals, securing host institutions, and succeeding in the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. He also offered motivational insights and personal experiences from his international research journey.

Meanwhile, Dr. Zetra Hainul Putra provided comprehensive information on research funding opportunities through the Slovakia Grant, DAAD, and JSPS, highlighting the importance of building academic networks and reputation early in one’s career.

The hybrid workshop was attended by 70 participants, consisting of both students and lecturers, who actively engaged in discussions and raised questions related to selection processes, research collaborations, and tips for developing competitive international proposals.

The Visiting Scholar Workshop further reinforces FKIP Universitas Riau’s vision as a distinguished and globally competitive faculty by fostering academic capacity and strengthening international research networks.
