HUMASFKIPUNRI INFO - Pekanbaru, August 28, 2025 — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau (FKIP UNRI), welcomed a delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) offices in Pekanbaru and Jakarta to further their collaboration on the Refugees Corner program. The meeting, held at the FKIP UNRI campus, focused on upcoming activities scheduled to run from September through December 2025.

UNHCR was represented by Bella Rafika Suci and Muhammad Rafki Syukri, both working in the field of Community-Based Protection (CBP). In the discussions, UNHCR and FKIP UNRI addressed the continuity of humanitarian-oriented initiatives focusing on education and sports. The program aims to provide refugees with meaningful learning opportunities while also supporting their physical well-being and social integration.

Representing the Dean of FKIP UNRI, Prof. Dr. Jimmi Copriady, M.Si, Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Mahmud Alpusari, M.Pd, attended the session. His presence underscored FKIP’s commitment to sustaining the program and further strengthening its collaboration with UNHCR.

During the occasion, UNHCR also presented an award to Syfa Adityaningasih, a student of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at FKIP UNRI, along with her team. They were recognized for their significant contributions in assisting the refugee community in Pekanbaru through educational and psychosocial activities. This recognition highlights the dedication and compassion of FKIP students in addressing humanitarian issues.

Through this visit, UNHCR and FKIP Universitas Riau reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in support of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program with a humanitarian focus. The Refugees Corner program not only provides students with a platform for practical learning but also reinforces FKIP UNRI’s role as a faculty dedicated to humanitarian values and global engagement.
